Terms of Service
The rules that govern your use of Vachanax's Kannada literature archive and related content.
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Vachanax website and related content (collectively, the “Service”), operated from vachanax.com. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What Vachanax provides
Vachanax is an educational and cultural reading project. We organize and present classical and folk Kannada texts—such as vachanas, tripadis, proverbs, and related commentary—in a reader-friendly digital format. We may add explanations, summaries, translations, or study notes to help modern readers understand context and meaning.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation:
- Attempting to disrupt, overload, or compromise the site or its infrastructure
- Scraping or harvesting content at a scale that degrades performance
- Using automated tools to circumvent normal navigation in ways that burden the site
- Uploading malware or engaging in phishing or fraud
- Harassing others or submitting unlawful, hateful, or abusive material through contact channels
We may suspend or block access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.
3. Intellectual property and public-domain materials
Many classical texts presented on Vachanax are in the public domain or are widely reproduced for educational purposes. Original selection, formatting, typography, commentary, translations, and supporting articles on this site are protected as a compilation and original editorial content to the extent permitted by law.
You may quote short excerpts for citation, teaching, or personal study with proper attribution to Vachanax and, where applicable, to the named author or tradition. Large-scale reproduction, resale, or automated republication of the site’s pages without permission is not allowed.
4. Third-party services
The site may embed or link to third-party videos, payment pages for e-books, typography tools, and analytics. Display ads are not currently shown on reading pages; the Service may include advertising networks if ads return in the future. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Vachanax does not control third-party content and is not responsible for it.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We strive for accuracy in attributions, spellings, and explanations, but classical texts invite interpretation, and occasional errors may occur. Nothing on the site is a substitute for professional advice in religion, law, medicine, or other regulated fields.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Vachanax and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred Indian rupees (₹100) or the amount you paid us for a specific digital product in the twelve (12) months before the claim, whichever is greater.
7. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to mandatory consumer protections, courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Service.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest revision. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
